Our Mission
The Bennett Foundation mission is to fight obesity through community outreach, educational workshops, physical activity and nutritional programs.
Our Goal
Michael and Pele Bennett started The Bennett Foundation with the goal of raising awareness about childhood obesity and providing communities with educational opportunities to learn how to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
During the spring of 2014, Michael Bennett attended a roundtable conference at the Hawaii State Capital with the hope of doing something to fight the growing obesity situation in the community. While the large corporations at the table began outlining a five-year plan, Michael was not content to wait that long and promised he would do something in three months. The inaugural OCEAN Health Fest was held in June of 2014. Over 1,000 people attended the five-day event that included Healthy Cooking Demonstrations, the Michael Bennett Football Camp, and the OCEAN Family Health Day, which provided free health screenings, educational information, and physical fitness activities for the entire family.
With a vision of affecting positive change in the health and wellness of families in the community, The Bennett Foundation plans on expanding their programs to include the states of Hawaii, Washington and Texas.
