Stay Hydrated in the Heat

Stay Hydrated in the Heat

The Bennett Foundation

The summer is hot! And with all the activities that are going on, it’s easy to forget to stay hydrated. But if you aren’t drinking enough water you can become tired, unfocused, and get headaches! Our bodies need lots of water, especially on a hot day! Here are some tips on how to keep the H2O levels high!

  1. Keep a water bottle handy – Always keep one on your desk, in your backpack, or in your hand! If you can constantly see a water bottle, there is a higher chance you’ll use it!
  2. Listen to your body – If you start to feel tired, groggy, or have a headache, try reaching for a glass of water. Our bodies need water throughout the day to make sure our bodies keep functioning.
  3. Eat more whole foods – fruits and vegetables are typically water-rich, and are an easy way to add a little more hydration throughout your day. Eating processed and salty food doesn’t contain a lot of water and can actually dehydrate you more. Watermelon and cantaloupe have a lot of water and are delicious!

Whether you’re working in the sun all day or are in the AC, your body needs more water in the summer. Set some goals with your family and drink that water!
