O.C.E.A.N. Health Fest
The inaugural O.C.E.A.N. Health Fest was held in Hawaii in June of 2014 with over 1,000 attendees. The five-day event took place at Waialua Elementary, Kapalama Elementary and Saint Louis School.
The overarching goal of The Bennett Foundation’s O.C.E.A.N. Health Fest is to increase healthy lifestyles and fitness awareness through health screenings, information, demonstration and activities.
Due to childhood obesity growing as a problem in today’s society, our goal is to drive people away from the drive thru’s and minimize poor eating habits.
Obesity is one of America’s biggest challenges, especially throughout underserved communities, “I came from a lower income area and I understand the struggles of making ends meet” Bennett added during a questionnaire, “OCEAN Health is a consortium of organizations that are dedicated to help improve our communities with ideas, techniques and information on how to guide the family’s step by step. Join me in the fight to eliminate childhood obesity.”
Each O.C.E.A.N. Health Fest attempts to motivate participants to make positive health behavior changes through teaching the community healthy dieting alternatives.
The connection of food, physical activity, and quality of life in a healthy environment is The Bennett Foundation O.C.E.A.N. Health Fest way.
