Michael Bennett Pledges Endorsement Money to Help Minorities & Women

The Bennett Foundation

Inspired by Chance the Rapper’s decision to donate $1 million to Chicago public schools, Michael Bennett has made his own pledge to donate his 2017 endorsement money to help minority communities and empower women of color.

In a press release, which he re-posted on his Instagram profile, Michael explained his plan to help rebuild minority communities through S.T.E.A.M programs and initiatives that directly affect women of color in an effort to create more opportunities for youth and invest in their future.

Bennett also plans to donate half the proceeds from his jersey sales to support inner-city garden projects, stating that “it’s not only about providing opportunities and art, but to help provide the right nutrition and access to healthy living to all.”

He called upon his fellow athletes to join him in making a difference by donating some of their endorsements to a cause of their choosing, and had this message for potential sponsors: “any company that decides to invest in me, just know that you’ll be investing in opportunities and providing inspiration for [minority and underserved] families—many who feel unnoticed or go unmentioned.”
