The Bennetts & Honolulu Sea Hawkers Raise Money at Charity Hike
A week before The Bennett Foundation’s annual O.C.E.A.N. Sports Camp in Hawaii, the Bennett family teamed up with the Honolulu Sea Hawkers, a Hawaii-based group of Seahawks fans, to raise money for The Bennett Foundation. A group hike was organized along the ‘Aiea Loop Trail in Honolulu, HI; Michael, Pele, Peyton, Ollie, and Blake trekked along with fans to promote exercise and healthy eating. At the end of the hike, the group was treated to a healthy farm-to-table meal.
“It’s lots of work, but it’s fun,” said Peyton, responding to her dad’s question about what it’s like to be a part of the foundation.
“It feels exciting that we get to help people,” Blake added.
“I think as an athlete you always want to transcend a sport to be able to talk about other issues and health being an issue I see as super important in our community right now,” Michael told KHON2. “To be able to have everyone come out to support that, that means a lot to me. That shows that there’s so much unity in the community and so much solidarity. That’s what I believe in every single day. To be able to have everybody walk with me and talk about health and be able to be out here as a family with my family it just shows how much connected we are.”
Prior to the hike, the Honolulu Sea Hawkers made a generous donation of $1,000 to The Bennett Foundation to help the fight against childhood obesity.
